We Met Over a Twinkie.... Plus Cookbook and Americolor Markers Giveaway!

Happy Sunday!  I am excited to introduce you to another one of my therapists. She is friggin awesome.

I met Confessions of a Cookbook Queen over a Twinkie and life has never been the same.

I can't even recall how I found her blog in the first place but after the very first glimpse of her "Minion Cupcakes" life has never been quite the same.

Are you serious!!!!  How cute!  I was instantly hooked.  Click here to read her blog post with this insanely cool idea: Minion Cupcakes!

Her writing is awesome too - she seems so down to earth.  The kinda gal you would go to Applebees with and have a beer.  I like that.

So after seeing this form of cupcake genius, I immediately thought of what I could do with a Twinkie and was inspired to make these:

What can I say...cake decorating is a drug for me.  People always say...do what ya know!!  Working in the medical field is often high stress and cake decorating has been such a great release for me.

Plus cupcakes have less side effects....RIGHT?

I simply covered the twinkies in colored fondant. It was wicked easy.  I used the Wilton alphabet mini cutters for the letters.  I really love having those cutters!

I did use a toothpick behind the medication bottle to keep it propped up.

Since I was making these after the inspiration from Confessions of a Cookbook Queen I decided to pay her a little homage....cupcake style.

Fondant Cookbook with Non-edible Queenie Crown that I found at The Dollar Store Fancy Trinket Shop. I wish I could send it to her!!

I must say, I am a fan of the mixed media cupcake topper.  And Twinkies.  And Confessions of a Cookbook Queen.

I bought a GREAT Cookbook, 101 Gourmet Cupcakes and a set of Americolor Markers from her web store as a thanks to her and to my fellow cupcake lovers!

You KNOW you have been wanting to try these awesome food writers!!

Just leave a comment and tell me what you love about cupcakes!  I will keep this giveaway open until Thursday and use random.org to choose a comment as winner.

Well...I hope you enjoyed my life in cupcakes today.

I hope YOU have a CALM week.  :)

I <3 Cookbook Queen. I follow her blog and Fb page, I feel a bit stalker-sh but in a good way not a hanging in a tree snapping pics bad kinda way. :O) Baking is my way to keep sane in an insane world of Stay @ home motherhood. As soon as my 2 little boys get a little cranky or rowdy " I just yell out who wants to help mommy bake something." It is an instant way to get thehem calm and contently concentrate at the task at hand. :O)

Unique and original ! I do love cupcakes, you can use your imagination and make 12 different ones, unlike a cake where you are tied into the theme....I can personalize each lil' cake in a cup ! And these markers and cookbook would be of great inspiration!

as i was typing this my son was sitting next to me eating all the sprinkles off a cupcake. Cupcakes = simple happiness

I love that cupcakes are portable! :) They're so easy to share because you don't need a knife, fork or plate!

What do I love about cupcakes? That they're serving sized and "pre-cut." No messing with corner pieces or trying to keep the centre of a round cake in the centre.

I love cupcakes - so many ways to prepare and easy to serve and they are so cute!

I love that you made a prescription bottle cucpcake topper! I'm a pharmacist who has recently found a love of cupcakes and I'm going to have to make some to take into work! My favorite thing about cupcakes (besides the buttercream frosting) is that you can pretty much turn any cocktail into a cupcake flavor!

Those are such cute cupcakes!
I love that you can make cupcakes decorated with pretty much any theme you can think of. And that they're smaller than a slice of cake so you don't feel guilty eating more than one.

Thanks everyone! Karen...if you want to make a bunch of these that are easy to transport don't use twinkies...it was cumbersome. I would suggest just molding the bottle out of fondant itself or covering a marshmallow with fondant so it is smaller and more proportional to the cupcake. Good luck!

Those are just adorable! Like you, I use cupcakes as therapy. I love that I can really make a sweet little work of art with the bonus of it not sitting around my very small house to clutter it up. Cupcakes are my preferred media these days. :)

Cupcakes are great because they help with portion control! Plus, they are great to try decorating techniques or different filling/frosting recipes on because if they don't work out, then you just have one bad cupcake, not a big regular-sized cake disaster!

I love them because they are soo easy to frost and eat~!

What I love about cupcakes? Eating them, of course! I feel less guilty eating a cupcake than a regular piece of cake even though the size is probably the same, and it's just as fattening. Let me live my fantasy though, haha!

I love cupcakes because they help me with portion control.I think 2 is about the right amount, wouldn't you agree? :) Now...I have a craving for a Twinkie, and a cupcake.
Love the pen set!

You are SO creative! I love cupcakes because I don't feel guilty about whether the piece I cut for myself is too large or the piece I cut for someone else is too small. That's the serving size. Or, like Megan said, maybe 2 is the right amount. Thanks for doing this!
