PEEP Cookbook Winner and More PEEP Ideas

Congrats to the PEEPs Cookbook Winner (via random.org):

Pam from Pam's Party Planning Blog  - go check out her blog - very cute!

I am also sending one to Christy from Glitter to Gumdrops for the inspiration!!  Thanks, you are one cool peep!

Now, a little history on the PEEP...Did you know:

Did you know as many as 4.2 million Peeps are made in the USA every day? The Just Born company began in 1910 when Sam Born came to the U.S. from Russia and opened a small candy shop in New York, relocating to Bethlehem Pennsylvania in 1932. Just Born remains a family-owned company today.
Until 1995, Marshmallow Peeps were only produced in pink, white, and yellow colors. In 1995, lavender colored Peeps were introduced; and in 1998, blue Peeps were introduced for Easter.

In 1999, vanilla flavored Peeps were produced and a year later, a strawberry flavor was added.

In 2002, a chocolate Peep was introduced.

Cupcake Inspiration

I would like to introduce you to the next Cupcake Artist Extraordinaire, my niece and Goddaughter, Jocelyn:

Deepest thanks to my sister, Paula, for taking these pictures for me - they are just priceless.

You see, they live in Arizona and me...I live in Minnesota.  We may be separated by many miles but our hearts are always together.

I recently sent Jocelyn a cupcake decorating kit. I wanted to share the fun of cupcake decorating with her.

She was excited.  That made me happy.

Look at that intense piping technique!  She is a natural!!

She made some amazing designs and I am honored to post her first gallery here on Sweetology....

 Just Perfect...like her!

TAAAA DAAAAAA!

She did a GREAT job.

Cupcakes are fun for me.  I am so glad I stumbled upon the joy of cupcake decorating as a diversion from life's curveballs.

I know that my cupcakes and this blog are not anything glamorous or fabulous but that is ok by me.  I started this blog as a way to catalog my creations as an archive for my daughter Sophia to have someday.

I am happy with the journey thus far.

I can not tell you the feelings I had when I viewed these pictures of Jocelyn baking and decorating cupcakes with her mom.  The smile in her eyes melted my heart.

And to know that I played a small part in this happiness fills me with such gratitude.

To be mindful and do for others without the expectation of what you will get in return is a life truly lived.

I am lucky to know this.

This is my life in cupcakes, thank you so much for reading!

I love you Jocelyn.

Peep Stew Pictorial, a WINNER and a PEEP GIVEAWAY....whew!

Hi Peeps.

Want to know how to make "Peep Stew"?

Thought so.

I have to give "props" to one of my blogger "peeps" for inspiring the idea. Please visit Christy at From Glitter to Gumdrops for her great bunny stew.

Once I saw it, the clouds parted, the angels sang and I knew instantly I loved this gal.

I also knew I had to adapt it "cupcake style".

First grab your favorite color Peep.  Mine is pink.

Bake a Cupcake and call it a "Pot" to make your "Stew" in.

Stick your poor unsuspecting Peep in the Stew...

Poor guy, he has NO idea what is in store for him.

Next, for added cuteness, make a fondant spoon.
(feel free to omit this cuteness)

Now, what do you need to make a great stew?

Classic stew ingredients of course!  Peas, carrots, tomato, barley, salt, pepper, corn...to name a few.

I know you could think of many, many more great ideas.

At some point you will need to introduce your Peep to the stew ingredients.

What are you waiting for??  Add your desired ingredients to the stew!

YUM!  Enjoy.

My daughter and I had a blast putting this together.

We think this would be a fun edible craft project for Easter Weekend.

Or, in our case, a Peep inspired impromptu Tea Party.  We need little excuse for a Tea Party at our house.

On another FUN note, let me tell you who I chose for the second set of Americolor Markers.  Thank you for all the great cupcake story ideas.

I chose LARK (Sparky Larky) from Lark's Country Heart because I happen to be partial to the cancer plight.  I am a cancer fighter and so far brain tumor survivor. Her passion for breast cancer research and support inspires me.  Visit her blog, you will be inspired too.

I hope this Peep Stew inspires you to think of what YOU could do with a box of Peeps.

Short on ideas?  That's ok!  This book will help you out!

Just leave a comment and tell me your favorite color Peep.

I will use random.org and this book will ship to you via Amazon.com.

I appreciate your comments very much. Please feel free to share this on facebook, twitter or with your friends.

Also I linked up to Tip Junkie!  Go check out all the GREAT ideas here:

Once Upon a Swimsuit...A Cupcake Story. Plus a WINNER and a Second Chance!!

I am excited to announce the winner of the cookbook and Americolor Markers Giveaway but first, a story...cupcake style.

Once Upon a Swimsuit
Written and Cupcaked by Trish from Sweetology

Once upon a time there was a girl who was going on vacation to a place sunny and warm.

She was excited.

That is, until she realized she needed a new one of these...

So she popped a few of these.....

And went to the mall to buy a new swimsuit.  It's that easy right?

No.

The poor lass tried on hundreds...thousands maybe.

But all the styles made her feel like this...

 Not this...

Probably because she loves to eat cupcakes augmented by her patronage of:

Leaving the mall without a new swimsuit she stopped at the bookstore and bought two copies of this:

Which made her very happy.  One for her and one for a future giveaway.

Want to know what else makes her happy??  A GIVEAWAY WINNER!!

Congrats to comment # 18 (via random.org)

Cupcake Public Service Announcement

This month is incredibly busy but I just could not go one more day without setting aside the time to make this Autism Awareness Cupcake.

Wanna know the BEST part?  My 7 year old daughter helped me.

It proved to be a great time to talk about Autism and how everyone is deserving of kindness and compassion.

She listened.

As my blog header states....this is "my life in cupcakes".

My life involves people with Autism.  Friends.  Family.  Patients.

And the awesome people that love and care for them.

Support Autism Awareness, Education, Compassion and Research.

Pass it on.

We Met Over a Twinkie.... Plus Cookbook and Americolor Markers Giveaway!

Happy Sunday!  I am excited to introduce you to another one of my therapists. She is friggin awesome.

I met Confessions of a Cookbook Queen over a Twinkie and life has never been the same.

I can't even recall how I found her blog in the first place but after the very first glimpse of her "Minion Cupcakes" life has never been quite the same.

Are you serious!!!!  How cute!  I was instantly hooked.  Click here to read her blog post with this insanely cool idea: Minion Cupcakes!

Her writing is awesome too - she seems so down to earth.  The kinda gal you would go to Applebees with and have a beer.  I like that.

So after seeing this form of cupcake genius, I immediately thought of what I could do with a Twinkie and was inspired to make these:

What can I say...cake decorating is a drug for me.  People always say...do what ya know!!  Working in the medical field is often high stress and cake decorating has been such a great release for me.

Plus cupcakes have less side effects....RIGHT?

I simply covered the twinkies in colored fondant. It was wicked easy.  I used the Wilton alphabet mini cutters for the letters.  I really love having those cutters!

I did use a toothpick behind the medication bottle to keep it propped up.

Since I was making these after the inspiration from Confessions of a Cookbook Queen I decided to pay her a little homage....cupcake style.

Fondant Cookbook with Non-edible Queenie Crown that I found at The Dollar Store Fancy Trinket Shop. I wish I could send it to her!!

I must say, I am a fan of the mixed media cupcake topper.  And Twinkies.  And Confessions of a Cookbook Queen.

I bought a GREAT Cookbook, 101 Gourmet Cupcakes and a set of Americolor Markers from her web store as a thanks to her and to my fellow cupcake lovers!

You KNOW you have been wanting to try these awesome food writers!!

Just leave a comment and tell me what you love about cupcakes!  I will keep this giveaway open until Thursday and use random.org to choose a comment as winner.

Well...I hope you enjoyed my life in cupcakes today.

I hope YOU have a CALM week.  :)
