Brain Sprinkles ~ Cookies in a Jar + Printable Tag

Who doesn't need an extra dose
of SMART every now and then, huh?

Especially when your going BACK TO SCHOOL!!

Brain Sprinkles ~ Cookies in a Jar!

With my sweet girl, Sophia Rose,
going back to school next week and
now entering into the THIRD GRADE (gasp!)
I had a feeling she would require
a little brain power as she transitions
from summer's lazy pace, to school's crazy race!

How about your kiddo?

I saw an idea for brain sprinkles made of
glitter on pinterest HERE and immediately
knew I could make it into a fun edible craft!

These were super easy. I actually took premade
snickerdoodle cookies from our local bakery and used
a wilton 1M tip to cut out the little round circles -- or you can
use a little round cookie cutter and your own cut-out
recipe if you like! I am all for FAST and FANCY!

I used the Wilton Cookie Icing in white and fun
rainbow jimmies to decorate the cookies.

I am going to give them out to the
neighbor kids too. YUM!

Here is the Tag in JPEG for you to cut and
paste if you like!! So easy, fun and cute!
I also have a word document for this
if you prefer, just email me.

On another note, I just had to mention that
this past weekend marked a 10 year
landmark for me with my brain tumor. 10 years
ago last week I entered into a research study at the Mayo
clinic to track patients with brain tumors. At that time
my 10 year survival was estimated to be 20%. Yikes.

Hmmmm. Guess I beat the odds.

To celebrate, I ate some of these
brain sprinkles and prayed for another 10 years.

Life is short, add the sprinkles.

Phases of the Moon ~ Pie Crust Cookies

Sophia is learning Astronomy as part of their
final Science unit this year!

I love Astronomy!

To help her learn the phases of the moon,
we took left over pie crust (from the Patriotic Pie Crust Stars)
and made these pie crust cookies in the form
of each moon phase....how fun!

I took a round cookie cutter and let her cut out each
shape to match the diagram we used as a guide below.

We used an Oreo cookie for the "New Moon"
(Sophia's Idea..good one too!!)

We had a great time.
When baking, we brushed the pie crust with
milk and topped with white sanding sugar to make it stand out.

LOVE YOU TO THE MOON & BACK!

Next, we made "planet cookies" which I will share
soon...those turned out AWESOME too!  Thanks!!

I am BANANAS over you, Valentine ~ Banana Chocolate Malt Shake with Printable

Banana Chocolate Malt Shakes

I would be LYING if I said I had a
real recipe for this but, truth is, I don't.
I put a couple of questionable bananas in the blender
& heaped in a LOAD of chocolate malt powder, a LOAD.
Next, I sprayed in a LOT of chocolate syrup and
to stay "healthy" added some SKIM milk.
Then some ice went in and I pushed PUREE'

It tasted SO SO SO SO SO GOOD.
Of course drinking it out of these
shot glasses and dipping our marshies
and eating our chocolates, added the amazing
WOWIE factor to this experience.

Try it, you will be so glad you did!

Bubbly Berry Hearts - Tea Party Tuesday!

Happy Tea Party Tuesday!!

Bubbly Berry Hearts ~ A Perfect Valentine Treat

Bubbly Berry Hearts
Adapted from Tea Time Jan/Feb 2008

Ingredients: 12 hearts

1 cup fresh raspberries, divided
1 cup quartered strawberries, divided
1 cup blackberries, divided
1 cup miniature grapes (or I used blueberries), divided
2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
2 cups sweet white wine
1/4 cup sugar
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
Garnish of choice

How To:

Divide fruit among 12 silicone heart molds.

Place in refrigerator until ready to use

In medium bowl, sprinkle gelatin over 1/2 cup cold wine.
Let soften for 1 minute.

The BEST part of cooking with wine is drinking the "leftovers"!!!

In a small saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups wine,
sugar, and vanilla bean.
Bring to a boil; remove from heat and strain.
Add to cold gelatin mixture, whisking to dissolve gelatin.

Pour mixture over berries,
pressing berries gently to submerge completely.
Refrigerate until firm, about 3 hours.

To serve, gently unmold hearts by carefully
loosening edges of gelatin.

Invert onto a platter or an individual plate.

PRINTABLE RECIPE HERE!

Now grab your favorite whimsical teacup, fill it with
your most favorite yummy tea....and BREATHE!

I LOVE the bee on this cup.....BEE HAPPY!!!!

I am excited to see what YOU have been up to this week!

Stained Glass Cookies ~ A Tribute to my Grandma Dorothy Dyas for Tea Party Tuesday

In Memory...
Dorothy Dyas
9/23/17 - 10/16/11

Happy Tea Party Tuesday!

I would like to introduce you to a wonderful guest
for tea this week, my late grandmother, Dorothy Dyas.

My Dad's mom recently passed away at
the wonderful age of 94

In my opinion, that is one AWESOME, long life.

There is so much one could say about this woman,
she was a force to be reckoned with and never
took "NO" for an answer, ever.

She wasn't the kind of grandma you would
cuddle up with and read stories or bake cookies,
but that is OK.

I learned many other things from
watching her live her life.

Like follow your passions.

And NEVER, EVER let a disease define you.

My Grandma suffered from
Parkinsons Disease for several years.

For as long as I have memories of her, I
remember her head and hands shaking.

But despite that she made a second
career out of fashioning stained glass
and traveled all over the United States
winning awards for her work.

This is my piece from Grandma...inspired by a 1920's Vogue Cover

My Grandmother created art
up until the last few months of her
life. She traded in the stained glass several years
ago for paper, paint and beautiful mosaics.

A few years ago, she was featured in our
hometown newspaper...to be inspired, click HERE.

She loved these elegant lady profiles and BIG HATS!

James, Sophia and I drove to Nebraska for
her funeral the weekend of Oct 22nd.
I was honored to read at her memorial service.

It was also the first time I had seen the
stained glass windows she created and donated
to her church when they remolded several years ago.

The two windows in front here were made by my Grandma - I wish I had a better picture!!

When we got home, Sophia and I made
Stained Glass Cookies
for tea this week in her honor.

We talked about the beauty of colors
and light and how each person can see
the world in a different way.

And that is a very good thing.

Excuse the cookie imperfections...I am a cookie newbie!!!

I used a new sugar cookie recipe that
I LOVED - it held it's shape so great and hardly spread.

Now, I am sure you can tell on your own,
I AM NOT A COOKIE EXPERT!

I am a CUPCAKE & TEA PARTY person.

I really would love to learn sugar cookies and
royal icing better, but I will just have to leave it up
to my friends like LisaHaniCallye, Meaghan

However, I really like how these
turned out. I used a cookie recipe I found HERE.

To make the stained glass effect, I crushed
up jolly ranchers and placing the cookies
to bake on a greased foil lined baking sheet
I let them bake for about 4 minutes.  I then placed the
crushed candy into the cut out area and baked
for 3-4 more minutes or until the cookies were
done and the candy was melted.

Here is a basic tutorial that I modified a bit - HERE.

I was inspired by the Rose Window of Notre Dame and went crazy!

God is Good.

So are flowers.....

 And so is TEA!!!

I found this cup at a flea market in Cross Lake, MN with my Mom-in-law!!

I am brewing up Toffee Delight!!!
It is so warm and nutty...just like me!

I think I made the rounds to everyone last week,
it was a great party and I appreciate everyone who
takes the time and links up.

I know the time it takes to join a linky
party properly so I raise my teacup to YOU!
