Why I Work ~ A Sweet Reminder

I have the privileged of a lifetime.

To take care of human lives.

To hold the hands of those in need.

What a GIFT!!

Last week, this lovely plant was waiting
for me at work when I got there early one morning.

It was from the family of a dear patient of mine
who, after a long hard battle with pulmonary fibrosis,
won his angel wings.

The card..

    "Trish,

Want to thank you for all the TLC you have given to R and our family. Without you we could not have made it through this time.  You gave him hope and reason to try anything that may have helped him.  He would not do anything unless he knew you were aware of it.  NO matter who wanted to change anything for him he would say "Does Trish know this" or "Let Trish know."  He adored you and for that we were so grateful.  Thank you so much for giving him your loving care. He hung onto every word you said and we feel in our hearts that you were chosen to be his doctor for a reason.
We miss him terribly but know he is in a better place
and can breathe freely.

Thank you so much. Godspeed.
The RB Family"

I choose to work for many reasons....

For how it makes my husband smile with pride when
I talk about my special patients.

For how it makes my daughter tell me she wants to
be someone "like you Mama, who takes care of
the sick people who can't breathe."

For Me.

And although there are days that are very difficult...
the days that I just feel like I can't do it all...
I know that I am right where I am supposed to be.

I am lucky, I don't have to search hard for meaning
or perspective that emphasizes the fragile nature of our being.

The fact is that no matter how you look at it
we all WORK HARD. Whether you work
in or outside of your home. Whether you have kids
or not, life is hard work....and THAT is why we need
to reach out and hold the hand of those in need.

Because then, LIFE, doesn't seem so hard after all.

Dedicated to RB and his family.
It was an honor to care for this man.

This made me cry and cry.

Trish, you truly are a remarkable person.

That was thoughtful of them, and we here in blogland are very proud of you, too.

To you some very special hugs.

Your friend,

Michele
